FUND RAISING PROPOSAL

The Concept:  

I would like to share with you a concept that can generate significant income for (a school, a community organization, a church....) such as yours. 

Car washes have traditionally been successful fund-raising activities. However, in more and more communities this wasteful use of our precious and limited supplies of drinking water is now prohibited.

The idea of a "waterless" car wash is new and unique and benefits you and your (school, community organization, church....) in several ways:

The Company:

The Plan:                                     

Conduct a Waterless Car Wash with revenue derived primarily from "pledges".

Income Potential:   

Your (students, members, supporters...) are provided with flyers to distribute to friends, around the neighborhood, on local bulletin boards, etc. and pledge sheets (see attached sample):

Example of income potential:

100 pledge sheets  x  25 pledges per sheet =  2500 pledges x .10 for each car washed = $250.00 income for each car washed x 100 cars= $25,000 total income potential (i.e. $10 from each person who pledged) for every 100 cars washed.

Estimated Cost:

From DWG or Local DWG Distributor
Based on 100 cars using Dri Wash 'n Guard (allowing 3.8 oz./vehicle — Almost TWICE the amount normally used)     $4.67 x 100 cars = $467.40  (2 cases of Dri Wash n Guard - 32 oz which comes with a free 8 oz applicator bottle = 2 cases X 6 bottles X 32 oz = 384 oz). (Note: price excludes shipping)

12 applicator bottles (based on 6 teams of 4) = $48  (Need 24 total & 12 come with the product). (Note: price excludes shipping)

100% Cotton Terry Cloths ====> Approx. -  $100  - each person needs 2 towels, one to wipe, one to buff, and needs to replace the wiping towel for every 4 cars washed and the buffing towel for every 8 cars washed (they are each only doing a quarter of a car).  If a team of four does 16 cars they will each need 6 towels X 24 people = 144 towels (+ have some extras on hand too).

Total Cost  = ~ $675 (including shipping and some variable towel cost), or $6.75 per vehicle

*Note: Containers suggesting donations from those who received the free wash can often entirely offset the cost of your supplies!

Manpower: 

Assign a "team" to each vehicle - 4 people is best. A team of 4 can wash a car in approximately 10 minutes.

Have each team member assigned 1/4 section of the vehicle and instruct them on proper procedure for cleaning. They work 1 1/2 hour shifts and then train their replacement and turn their 8-oz applicator bottle over to their replacement.                                      

With 6 teams of 4 each it should be possible to wash 100 cars in 3 hours.

Guidelines/check list for waterless car wash

Preplanning:

1)    ____       Set date of event at least 4 weeks away      

2)    ____       Secure a location on busy street with easy access and -high visibility

3)    ____       Hand out pledge sheets, flyer, and scheduling roster to every person who will participate in obtaining pledges

4)    ___      Secure an ample supply of clean 100% terry cloth rags

5)    ___      Order the anticipated amount of product and dispenser bottles

6)    ___      Make sure you have tables, chairs. Canopies are very helpful to cool down the vehicles in case it is a very hot day. They also add a festive atmosphere and make the site more visible. Bungee cords can be used to hang banners and attach weights to canopies in case of wind. Have something to use as a tip bucket. Have forms for drivers to fill out while car is being washed with name address and telephone number and a box to collect completed forms. Have some kind of tape or cones to make lanes on day of event  

7)    ___     Have sign made up saying FREE CAR WASH for people to hold on comers and hang around site.

The day of the event:

8)    ___      On day of event have supervisors meet 30 minutes early to set up lanes, tables, canopies and decide on flow of traffic

9)     ____      Set up system of training first teams and control distribution and return of applicator bottles. 

10)   ____      Designate waiting area with shade, seating and possible refreshments. 

11)    ____     As cars are left to be washed driver should be given form requesting name, address, telephone number. It is critical to insure this form is collected before driver leaves site.

12)    ____   Set up product and opportunity tables.

13)    ____ The person at the end should thank the people and quickly check the vehicle for any residue remaining and make sure form is collected.
